Big Career Changes?

I’ve gone into, out of, and then back into the corporate world. It’s a very different life on both ends, but the flexibility I get out of my current job in corporate America is something I couldn’t ever take back.
I've been through 4 career changes in a span of 10 years. I went through 3 different departments where I work and then I moved to Florida for 10 months and did credentialing. Moved back from Florida to Missouri and took up my old job as a communications executive.
Two, first into programming and then quitting that to be a full time caregiver. Pretty radical changes, lol

Became what's considered a "junior" leader at my work in late January 2022. 3 months later, the person whose position I was next in line for left, and I ended up with a "senior" leadership position. (Not the official titles, but that's basically the easiest way to refer to it.) Been in that position for going on 2 years now (it'll be 2 years in April) and I'm apparently being heavily looked at for being the second highest leadership position in the store. There hasn't been much discussion around it, but my store leader has already expressed interest in wanting me in the position.
If you'd asked me 6 years ago if this is where I saw myself now, I'd tell you "definitely not."

Sometimes life takes you down interesting paths, I never saw myself becoming a caregiver after going to school to become a programmer, but life happens! Enjoy it, the ladder to leadership is a great one to be on!

It's definitely been worth having the experience! My only wish is that I'd had the opportunity to be a junior leader for a little while longer to be able to get a better grasp on just simply being a leader while not having nearly as many responsibilities as I do now. I feel like I spent a lot of time learning how to be a leader and learning everything I needed to know while also balancing the responsibilities I have in the role I have now. Definitely improved a lot over the last 2 years, and of course, you never truly stop learning, but I just wish I didn't end up having to move up so quickly.
That's a very good point, you were thrust into it without truly understanding it yet, but sometimes experience is the best educator, and after 2 years you certainly have an ample supply of experience 😉
