In your opinion, is free edition bitdefender better or free edition AVG?
The free version of Bitdefender does not have a real-time shield, but it has a high detection rate.
AVG recently released a update which broke Windows 7 64 bit, and when I used it. AVG kept freezing my computer, and made it slow.

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials in Windows 7, and it works great.
Microsoft Security Essentials is known to use up a lot of CPU & Ram. You can see this by clicking,
CTRL
SHIFT
Escape
All at the same time and then look at how much memory & CPU it is using.
I've been personally disappointed with the idea of "free anti-virus programs". But a lot of people do not know that often your ISP (Internet Service Provided) will offer a paid version of a program for free.
I usually have a lot of Free Ram, and CPU cycles. I'm just glad MS security essentials does not crash my computer like AVG 2011.
Microsoft Security Essentials only used about 44-45MBs of RAM when I look at its processes in Task Manager, and my CPU is only using 1-10%.
I still have 400MBs of Free Ram out of my 1GB of RAM.
I don't notice much slow down using SE.
AVG Free used it for over 5 years now, Never let me knowm, and ive never heard of bitdefender.
