Black for a webmaster/hosting forum?

For a black hat one it seems OK. However, for a hosting themed one, no. But, I could be wrong.

I normally appreciate websites that are darker themed or more colourful.
Having everything super bright and a background of #ffffff is very painful to eyes.

I think it's very subjective. But white can be bad in some instances. But on most screens, my white forums haven't been bad on the eyes.

Also, oddly enough, some hate all black color - while others think it's the greatest thing ever.

Black causes too much glare, yet too much white can do the same. You gotta balance them out when it comes to design.

I have no problem with neither assuming it's done right.
