Black Friday is a cool little "given" for stores to make money, but now it is getting out of control. Stores around here are opening their sales at 8pm on Thanksgiving night!! 😕 In all fairness it is up to you if you stay with your family or go shopping, but it shouldn't even be an option. Especially for those poor people stuck working those hours.
I don't even go shopping on Black Friday just because it's out of control. I don't know why people do not buy things online instead and miss all of that madness. It makes life so much easier.
I don't really see it as an issue with opening on Thanksgiving night. Families can have their meals and time together earlier in the day around lunch time, and then go out together to the stores and shop. That can be part of your tradition and celebration.
Honestly, I think the rest we're seeing more and more happening on Thanksgiving is because we as a generation don't want to be idle. Setting aside a whole day for really doing nothing is not good for us, we need to be out and about and doing something. Eating and taking a nap isn't what we want. We need those stores to open up so we have something to do and don't have to stop living our busy lives.
This Black Friday was horrible. I remember all of the stores opening at midnight and being open all night and it allowed you to stay with your families longer. Now commercialization has just ruined Black Friday.
This is where American society is headed though. You have the rich business people that find they make more money and increase their individual wealth so why not open early and get MORE customers and bring in a better profit.
