Lets say that your favorite forum software (paid or free) had the ability to let you customize the forum you are using, to the point that you could turn it into both a forum and a blog, without using any one or more plugins to achieve it. Managing wise, would you do it?
There are those that like to have the ability to run a forum with a blog, or a blog with a forum. For example, with WordPress you can choose to use a plugin like BuddyPress to give you a forum within your blog. Also, there are other plugins at WordPress that allows you to share the user database of either the forum or wordpress, so that once someone creates an account on one, it automatically creates the account on the other, and only shares the username, password, and email fields to achieve that sort of connection.
