If not then yes, WordPress is the way to go (.com) and you can even upgrade your package if you ever wish to make a domain. However, they do limit some of the things you can edit/modify.

No, the template just takes the first image in the article and makes it the preview. Same with the text.
All I have to do is add a tag/label to the article, and it goes to that tag's category on the front page by itself.
