Is blogger a good blog host? Is it safe to use blogger?

I believe blogger is good and is around the same usage and security as the other blogging software; wordpress. On the other hand I believe it would be a good idea to invest in your own host due to you having a much larger control over what you wish to edit and change -- but both are a good choice and comes down to personal preference.

I would prefer using a self hosted wordpress blog, but everything already done for you on blogspot no install and little configurations and its powered by Google and their powerful server so the speed it also good.

Blogger is good if you don't want to spend much time installing and configuring your blog. Just signup with Google account, fill some fields and there you have a blog. It is as secure as GMail or Google Docs, it's Google-quality security.

Once you get more than 50 visitors per day, it is recommended that you set up your blog on your own hosting space (or VPS or even dedicated server if you really receive many visitors), for example using Wordpress for the script (or if you know how, you can even write your own blog script 🙂).

That's not exactly true. Google owns Blogger/Blogspot, but didn't make/founded it. It was created by Pyra Labs in 1999 and Google bought it and its rights in 2003.

I stand corrected. I really meant to say though that it is safe because they manage it.

I use to have a blog with Blogspot / Blogger, and I never had a problem with it.

Its save to use and google runs it so you know it wont do a disappearing act, but its best to have your own "self hosted" blog just in case something happens, you have a backup and can restore it somewhere else.
