I'd also recommend WordPress, it is very easy to use. If you have cPanel hosting with Fantastic, it is really easy to install it through your hosting control panel.
Nothing's wrong with it. It's a very good CMS and I've used it myself in the past.
But Hakuto asked for an easy to use, yet good-looking blog software that's self hosted. And (in my personal opinion) WordPress is the best fit and easiest to use solution for what he's looking for.
My biggest thing about choosing WP over Drupal is simply because it's more search engine friendly. RSS feeds, pings, keyword-rich urls... Google just loves WordPress.
I was mainly talking to Briggers, who said not to use Drupal (seemed like a do not pass Go, do not collect $200 type thing). I completely understand your reasoning, as Drupal is very heavyweight, and can be very confusing at times. I currently use wordpress however.
I've used Drupal on UKGaming, and a PC Gaming Clan I'm part of have used Drupal in the past.
And it is simple to use, but it isn't the best one out there.
The reason for the "do not pass Go, do not collect $200" type thing, was due to the fact that UKG & BL have both used Drupal, and we've both had constant problems with it where it ends up randomly causing errors (without changes happening) randomly losing a style randomly loses categories and a number of other problems which has really peeved us off.
Cutenews however is heavyweight and is more for the people who know php and know how to make a website as its a CMS that you edit into an existing website with php code. And it is extremely annoying and time consuming to set it up correctly.
