Which of these following are the hardest to build activity, templates, etc. once you get one running: blog, website, or forum?

Forums I feel are harder to start up and drive traffic to, for blogs you just need to know the topic well and post around 2 long articles a week to keep your blog interesting and get traffic on it

For websites, if you make them from scratch, you have to be acknowledged in many things like coding, templating, etc., and it takes a long while to learn CSS away from the rest of the coding. I'd say that websites are the hardest to build up because there are some different parts of coding that you need to know, and it takes a while to learn it. Websites also have graphics on them, so you have to be experienced and acknowledged with graphic designing as well.

For blogs, you are correct, Gimgak; you do have to create at least 2-5 articles a week, and it takes a long while to type them out and post them. Plus, once your blog gets very popular, users will depend on more articles to reply to and learn from. It is pretty hard to build up blogs.

All you have to do for forums is just create some categories and forum, set the configurations, advertise daily, and just sit back and watch it grow. It doesn't take much for your forum to grow unless the topic of it is not what users discuss normally.

I do find that after starting my xbox 360 blog it is hard to get the posts going, but if you know the topic, it shouldn't be too hard. Forums i think are hard because getting members and keeping them is difficult.

Websites - You need to design them, create content, get all of the coding set up, advertise like crazy to make your website stand out from others, add interesting things to keep people coming back, with forums, they can be set up within a few hours.

I disagree, forums you have many more factors to consider when running it. A blog, you can easily keep active and do well with great content being posted if you enjoy what you write about.

I think of the three, that blogs are the easiest to start and get going. It's much harder to drive traffic to a website or forum. You also need the least amount of technical knowledge to start a blog.

Well it depends really, Websites & Forums are equally hard considering the fact you have to create content get staff, code, & so much more.
Blogs are the most simple.

Forums are definitely the hardest to set up, though implementing social features on your website can be a lot of trouble and gathering members for that is even harder than for a forum.

Forums are hardest because it can be very difficult to get members and keep them active espiecally if your forum is about a small niche like "Pogo sticks" or an niche with a lot of competitors like "General Discussion forums"

Installing mods for your forum can take a lot of time if you are new to installing mods.

Websites are easier to make these days with Joomla, and Drupal CMS. All you need is content.

But, coding them with Html and php can be very difficult for beginners.

Most Blogs these days use Wordpress which is simple. All you need is content.

But, coming out with a good content can be hard if you are not an expert on what you are writing about.

But, the hardest type of website to make and manage are social networking websites since there is already a lot of well known social sites like Twitter, Face book, myspace, and bebo, so it be very hard to convince users to join your social site unless it has a very cool niche like "Gold Fish Lovers, etc".

I find a fully pledge website hardest.

Simply because you will have to do everything yourself.(well most of the time)

From the template to adding things like a blog forum and affilate area.

Not to mention when coding a website making it all browser friendly is hard.....

Depending on how you are making it
But i guess websites from Scratch are hard for me
i use forums mostly -razz-

I think a website it probably the hardest to set up from scratch but with all once you get going things become a bit easier
