Blue collar no more: Skilled auto technicians are in high demand

The tight labor market, while frustrating for employers, can be a boon for blue-collar workers: They are more likely to find good-paying jobs and experience rapid wage growth.

Oddly enough, the demand is in plumber, electrician etc. jobs - but so many feel it's beneath them - and others have no ability and/or desire to pass the certification exams.

Anyway, I do feel there's been a propaganda campaign against them, but mounting college degrees that haven't paid off - say a different story.

You are very right. People now pursue college degrees with the hope of having a better future through white collar jobs and this has created a lot of vacuum in the blue collar jobs sectors as some people now sees blue collar jobs as jobs for low lifers or uneducated people.
