Respect is earned to a large degree and many in the police force are corrupt and love to rub it in, like drinking soda in front of some prisoners, even in a courtroom - who might not be able to afford commissary.

Nonetheless, like in the military, many cops and correctional officers must go thru tough training, but does it excuse despicable behavior once on the job?

Anyway, O.K., many criminals are bad, but how about when the law enforcement is just another player and also the stuff I mentioned above?

Nope. If a police officer is acting out and doing dumb shit. They deserve to lose their job.

Officers are trained to not have sympathy. It's like when teachers avoid being too "chum chum" with students to avoid being taken advantage of.
