Hi everyone, I hope this post in the correct place.

I have been advised that web crawlers and bots read the contents in the Ajax chat room?

Is this correct?

I haven't used the chat room before, but there are some younger members that asked for it to be enabled.

I have been exchanging comments with a fellow admin, and it seems that the conversations were leaked out on the net, so I am led to believe. Is someone having a lend of me or is this possible?

Any advice and help would be really appreciated.

RB.

Is this some sort of chat box plugin you are using? If there's any content that you don't want visible to bots, you can always hide it from them. 🙂

Hello pandaa, and thank you for your reply, 🙂

It is an option for phpBB boards that we have on our network called Ajax chat. You cannot hide it as it is not a forum as such, it can only be enabled or disabled.

Registered users can only use this feature, and it is pre set to this. As for controlling bots in the chat room, there are no options, to stop them crawling the chat room, so I have been told, but I am a little concerned for members who may use the private room function.

Maybe I'm over reacting, but my members privacy and security are my number one priority. 🙂
