Bots?

I have a question for the admin.
How do you have Bots on your forum.
Like Googlebot and yahoo bot.

Do they post?Or do anything cool.
If they do can you show me how i can put one on my forum?

it is a function is phpBB3.

It automatically shows Search Bots as online when they visit as it can get detected by their user agent. All it does is show that they are online and also give you the ability to allow them to see forums that guests can't which you can't do in phpBB2 as they have the same permissions as guests. They can't post... They just follow all the links of this site and indexes them.

I only get like a few visits from google bot and yahoo bot a day, still not much of my forum appears in the search engines.

My forum gets a lot of google bots.

I always see the same bot at my forum when I go into ACP or Who's Online.
Same IP.

You should still have bots visiting your forum, they are just displayed as guests.

Bots aka siders or web crawler.

Bot are a script, a program, made by a the owner of the search engine. If you see a bot on your forum that mean that someone is searching for something and using one of your keyword. Example: When you search on a search engine, let say Google.com. and you type in, let say um forum promotion. Google will send a bot (or bots) to any site that have the words, phrases, or/and keywords that say forum promotion. So in other word that a guest is searching something that you have in your site, blog, profile, and forum. bots go everywhere that they aloud to.

phpBB3's is alot more advanced as you can add new ones and it picks up more by default and you can set what you want the bots to see.
