Not really, because not all workplaces are suitable for kids. If they're a school teacher or work in a daycare or something? Fine, absolutely, go for it! But a lot of front-facing or even office jobs just are not equipped to handle a kid.
No, for a number of reasons. Safety being one of them, but also, I feel they can be a distraction. I remember one time, one of the other managers came back in to help me with an issue I was having, and she brought her kid with her. Kid could've stayed home because her husband was home with the other kid, and it was low key awkward and annoying because the kid wanted to go look at stuff and was just more or less in the way. I somehow even ended up having to watch the kid at one point. Kid was like, 4 or 5 at the time, I think, so not quite a baby or toddler, but still. If she'd had no one else to watch the kid at home, I would've completely understood.
Where I used to work, it wasn't acceptable to bring children to work, and when managers chose to ignore the rule, the kids were a complete distraction and into things they shouldn't be in, as well as being loud. A lot of companies have cubicles instead of real offices, so sounds travel, when on a business call, you don't want a whiney child in the background with the client on the phone.
Employees don't have to bring their babies to their workplace. Argue it as much as you want, you would surely be distracted from work by just the mere thought that your baby is somewhere around. You would want to be checking in on the baby every time.
No I don’t think it should be a thing - the only exception might be if you’ve just had a baby and bring them into the office for 30 mins or something to show them off.
