Why are these companies hated so much, in more detail? OK, with Birvium, it was said they were getting into people's credit cards and Doh Theme is accused of simply copying other company's ideas. Well, anyway, I don't see Doh Theme as being copycats and like their work.
Brivium and Doh Theme Phobia

Not to sure about Doh Theme, but Brivium was an entire shit show.
Be cautious. There is a lot of "Fake news" about them though such as them stealing credit cards, or they created "backdoors" which isn't true. However, they still did some shady shit.
What they did do:
- Send callbacks to their servers with data of your website. (Included htaccess details to your ACP)
- Prevent you from uninstalling his addons
- Wouldn't honor refund requests.
- Owned and ran a nulled community releasing other peoples work for free.
- Allegedly hacked accounts on TAZ to remove brivium related threads that exposed it.
- - I say "Allegedly" because it was no way to prove it it was them. However, it is widely accepted that it was.
Now, with that said, they seem to have "stepped" aside with their old ways, as inspecting any of their stuff now seem to have the callbacks and shady stuff removed. Does that mean they are trustable now? No. The reputation is already ruined, and the damage is done. Even if they use clean code now, don't mean I would want to support a company that does that to begin with.
It was a real shame too. Some of their addons had no alternatives, and still don't to this day. Their "Credits Premium" addon was their biggest one, and even the AD Credits and DragonByte credits still don't compare well with it. However, for security reasons, I went with AD Credits.
I remember back when this all happened. Costed me hundreds of dollars to replace everything.
