Browser Compatibility Question

Based on this data; http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp
Would you say it's safe to not fix IE6/7, and just put a notice in the footer to IE users 7 and below that the site is designed for a higher browser version?

Reason being is that, I finally have my design fixed for 8, 7 is OKAY...it has alignment issues though, and 6..makes it look like it has no style sheet associated with it.

Input, please?
 
I highly doubt people still use Internet Explorer 7 or below. Did you check your visitor stats to see if you have any visitors from those browsers?

If so, I would personally for my websites create a completely separate theme/template thats very basic just for IE6/7
 
My entire county school system still uses IE 6 with Windows XP haha.
So, you should at least try to slightly accommodate older browsers the best that you can.
