If you want to add a blog to your forum, how do you do it? generally speaking, there are two ways to do it. You can install WordPress in the directory/subdomain and publish blogs, or create a Blog Category in the forum and publish blog posts. What's your favorite method.

My forum has an inbuilt CMS module. I can add articles based on categories, just like in WordPress.

My IPB software also has it built into the system 😉 And so I can set up any style blogs/articles with categories. If you think about it most do anyway. Here on FP, they use WordPress as their front end, which can also support blogs but they use FOurm categories board

Combine Wordpress with Discussion Board plugin. You can have blog with forum together in one CMS system.

Woltlab Suite does a good job of integrating a CMS along with a forum. It's not free software, but it's much cheaper than the competition when it comes to paid forum software. Other platforms like IPB charge extra for their CMS and it's not that cheap. Of course you can always go with Wordpress and see if there's a bridge between WP and your free forum script of choice if you want to go down that route.

I use WordPress and a plugin that links the forum as the commenting system.

That guy called Bob has a good thing for a XF blog. It is a premium add-on. It looks worth the money.

I would love to add a blog to my forum. I have tried doing it using WordPress but it never worked out the way I wanted it to.

The way I would like to do it would be using the Article Management System addon for Xenforo but that is costly so I am waiting until I get the funds before I jump on that.

I would recommend finding a forum software that has a Blog/CMS option built-in, as it allows for there to be a very nice integration that has the same theme, layout, and format. Plus, you'll gather analytics on actual users who view the articles/blogs created which can influence what you want to write about in the future!

In the past, I've used WordPress, but it doesn't look great and any integration between WordPress and your forum software is far from smooth sailing. These days, I just use the built-in blog add-on and/or CMS add-on for IPB. A more expensive solution, sure, but it's much better!

I’m a big believer in having a WordPress blog as the homepage and then having it integrated with your forum software. I’ve tried a few of the different blog add-ons for XenForo, and I’ve not been sold on any of them. They’re far too limited for my liking.

Same. That's why going forward if I launched a blog, IT STAYS that way.

With the mod from Theme House that's free or is it still free?

Yes, but the way it works is weird. It "copies" the article, and treats comments as comments for the BLOG, and the FORUM.

Like a receipt.

<rubs forehead in confusion> Ugh.

x-Press was their best product, the only issue is some of the coding. It requires a part of PHP that then causes server outages. It hit ANYONE with it installed.

Oh my god! So damn close. I really liked it.

Do you like the TH product? How do you compare it to other stuff?

TH is not customer oriented. At the end, when x-Press was sunset, they had ZERO communication with us. They trashed customers... PAYING customers. T'was me. I paid over $200 for multiple licenses.

So, even if that thing is free... I wouldn't bother. That's their fault. They made their bed.

The xenPorta add-on is decent for having a 'news' blog portal and forum backend.
