Why do you want to convert? phpBB is great forum software, VB isn't necessarily better, just because it is paid.

Im looking forward to vb5 connect even if all the reviews are negative, im sure the final release will be better

If you are going to change to VB5, you may want to wait until VB5 is on full release. Upgrading from VB4 to VB5 may not be easy, so you may want to avoid that step, if you can wait.

Only problem is vb5 has no scheduled release date so i could be waiting years,,
