I read stories online of people's website getting overloaded and suspended because Oprah Winfrey ,a hugely popular talk show host, talked about your website, or linked to it from her blog, and a ton of her fans go to the person website at once which causes it to overload or slow down.

Would a slow website on shared hosting crash if you buy advertising from Facebook.com, Digg.com, Google Search, and other high traffic websites with millions or more page views a day?

I mostly see websites owned by AOL like the Huffington Post advertise on Digg a lot. I think most smaller sites probably can't handle the increase load of having so many visitors from Digg, and can't afford the advertising prices of Digg.

I imagine it is always a good idea to optimize page load times and make sure that you are going to be able to have a host that can handle success. That way you have room to grow when you do hit something big like that. You never know when it could happen.

I agree, there are more and more over night sensations like Rebbecca Black on the internet who is famous mainly for singing a catchy yet annoying song on YouTube. I imagine if she had a shared hosted website it probably would crash if she advertise the video on her music video as an in-video ad, or in the description since it was one of the top 100 videos worldwide on Youtube for days, and possibly weeks.

But, I heard expensive web hosts like dedicated, Grid, Cloud hosting, and Managed VPS can be very pricey if you don't make a lot of revenue, but you have the potential to get a lot of Traffic if someone famous like Oprah Winfrey found your site while searching on Google for content and sources for her shows, or blog, and mentions your site as a authority source.

It is always important to have a good host that gives a great speed. Provided having your own server, makes it easier to handle more traffic than using shared servers, but it is up to how much money you are willing to spend.

Shared can only handle so much before traffic bogs it down. Once you get to that point, even if you get a major spike in traffic, or a gradual build up in traffic, it is then time to move up to something that has more power. Even if it costs more money.

Are there faster and more powerful web hosts which you can subscribe to for a "few" days, or weeks for when you plan to use Adwords, advertise on very high traffic websites which gets millions of page views a day like the front page of Digg, StumbleUpon, and expecting to get a lot of traffic from offline media promotions like Radio, College Radio, high traffic YouTube partner like Shane Dawson, Ray William Johnson, Sxephil, etc promoting your site for money?

Since after your advertising plans has ended on Adwords, and high traffic websites because you just payed for a few days or weeks, there most likely be fewer refferal traffic from Adwords, and high traffic websites since your ad won't show on those websites anymore after the deadline.
