Now I get a server error. I've tried contacting him. No response yet. I was doing some posts for him as well. According to his profile page, he was on yesterday.

That is completely unprofessional that you would close down your website. Too much time was invested in this, and it's a shame that you did not communicate this with any of us. We had an agreement and you did not follow through.
