Calendar, to-do and productivity apps

Hey guys!

Over the years I've always looked for the perfect productivity kit to keep tabs on my to-dos and my calendar. I've used both Apple's calendar as well as Outlook's, and been through pretty much every to-do app there is. Yet I never seem to be able to gel my calendar and to-do app fully together, and end up using just one of the two. Do you guys have any tips on an app that does this well, or any other tips when it comes to productivity apps?
 
Does Google offer something you'd be willing to use?

I have a Google phone and I use the calendar which allows me to add Events, To Dos and other things. Then I can set alarms or notifications too.
 
I’ve always had the same issue. I find that calendars and to-do lists are essentially the same thing but require specific formats to feel ‘right’ and so they can never work well together. It’s a tricky one.

I'm not too fond of the Google Cal UX actually, but I struggle with explaining why, so it sounds like a me-problem.
