Yes, this is the second time posting this. Let's just avoid the silly responses and let me clear a few things up this time 😛

I guess I shouldn't be too hard on him. Callum is sbfc/Callum93 for any of you that don't know. (hi Cal)
Well anyway. Last night, me, Callum and another guy called David decided to meet up in Stevenage and stay the whole night until early morning. Stevenage is just a town by the way, a pretty chavvy one at that. Anyway me and David got to Stevenage and Callum got off his bus at the cinema.
Callum has told his mother than he was going to see a film. That wasn't strictly a lie but he planned to do more that night as explained above. So we spent an hour at McDonalds after that... eating... then we popped into the 9:30PM screening of Knight and Day.
I've never seen so many adverts before a film. We must have sat through an hour of crap. Ah well. More for your money I guess... Knight and Day was a pretty average film anyway, and like some others I found difficulty telling whether it was a spoof or not. Regardless, it kept me entertained.
Before the film started, Callum texted his mum saying that he planned to stay at his friends for the night for a sleepover (that is a blatant lie). She wasn't too open to the idea shall we say. So after the film she started ringing again and in that time Callum decided it would be a good idea and own up to the fact that really he was meeting two other guys off the Internet. Despite warning him not to, he went ahead and afterwards (after being shouted at I guess) turned to me and said "why did I tell them the truth?"
Well anyway, cut the long story short - Callum went home on the next cab and left me and David on our own in Stevenage. We decided not to get boozed up (it was only Callum that planned to really, but that's a whole other thing) and to go to Cambridge where we knew. There was a train at near 1am we managed to get on to Cambridge. All the barriers were closed so we got on that free (I also managed to pass through Stevenage free). We started wondering around...
So yeah. All in all, we spent all night wondering around parts of Cambridge I've never been and beyond. We covered over 8 miles I'd say in the time but I'm not entirely sure so I'm putting a low figure on it. It was quite interesting to talk to David as he's a pretty big liberal and has some interesting philosophy ideas.
At 5:30am we went back to the station as to avoid the barriers being closed. We actually sat around for 2 hours and 10 minutes. In the waiting room, watching BBC News Breakfast. A very annoying old couple were in the waiting room too. They sounded like a Monty Python sketch.
It probably turned out as best as it could have, at least for me. I don't know what I'd have done in Stevenage with a drunk stranger all night. No offense Cal. I feel sorry for you being taken home like that, give it a year and you'll be able to do whatever the hell you want.
It was an even more interesting experience though, because it made me think a lot about how different people are online in real life. David, because I used to talk to him on Skype very often, he wasn't much different in real life. Whereas with Callum I'd never spoken to him before except for MSN and Skype. He's much different to how I suspected he'd be, but I'm sure most of you come across differently in real life before. I was stupid to have expectations really.
That too made me think about how I come across. On the Internet I find it much easier to put thoughts into word and in real life anyone who really knows me would tell you that I don't come across too well, at least in the initial stages of meeting someone. If you'd met me in real life you wouldn't think I would have written all of the above.
So yeah I haven't slept in the past 30 hours, think I'm gonna go doze off now.
It's worth noting that before meeting either of these people I did a fair bit of research to ensure I knew they were who they said they were and if you suspect ANYTHING, don't risk it. Make sure you go somewhere with lots of people around. It's useful to take someone you know too, and let someone you know you're going with them. I DO NOT CONDONE MEETING PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW ONLINE
---
I now haven't slept for 45 hours ish by the way. I'm going to bed soon.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on meeting up with people on the Internet? (sensible please) Have you ever met anyone?
How do you perceive people online and how do you think you'd feel if they're different to how you'd expect? It's a strange feeling I guess.
Much love
Jonto 😉
