Can a blog or interactive homepage increase earnings?

It is possible for increasing earnings for a forum by having a blog or interactive homepage to tell users about changes to the forum and events, contests, and other news related to the forums or the forums category. I notice bigger blogs also tend to have both a forum and a blog.

This might increase visitors coming back or at least stay longer on the website.

I tend to enjoy forums with a blog or interactive homepage since it saves me a lot of time when looking for new posts, and replies, so I'm more likely to go back to that forum if it is a cool place to hang out, so this can increase earnings if I see an ad I am interested in like a "Xbox 360 ad" and click it, and the forum owner earns a little bit from increase impressions to his ads.

If a blog is too much work to maintain and put new content on daily, maybe just having a interactive homepage which automatically post what's the latest posts and replies are on the homepage is good enough.


Plus, there are many Blog directories like Technorati which you can submit your blog to giving you more traffic which can increase your earnings.

I see larger forums have blogs attached to them. I think it's a great thing to include as it is usually clean and provides relevant articles which may help users. It's usually informative, whereas forum topics get buried and may not be seen.

It has every possibility to increase earnings because it is targeted and it can be optimized (link wise) unlike the dynamics of a forum.
