Can a forums really grow now? I mean with loads of websites offering paid posting, posts exchanges etc.. posts for forum money and what not can a forum really start without having to "Pay" someone to post?
Of course a forum can, it's just that everyone is stuck in this little part of the internet exchanging things and going round in circles, people posting here and there and others hosting for deals etc.
So...I think you are missing one of the main points of running a forum. You want to get to a point where, your community takes off even when you (the admin) are not visiting the site every single day. Yes, the admin should be present to check on things, but it's not completely necessary. This site (ForumPromotion) and all other advertising sites which offer posting packages are meant for one thing: To help you get started, or to help you in rough times. What does this mean?
When you first start a forum and get your categories situated how you want them, it's time to start posting away (no one wants to join a forum with no posts). That's 1 time where this site (and others like it) come into play. Come on here, get a few packages rolling, maybe partake in some post exchanges to give your site a content (and post count) boost. THEN you should start your advertising - maybe when your forum hits about 500-1000 posts. You should stop all posting packages and don't do any of the post-exchanges. This needs to be the time you do some quality advertising to pick up members who want to participate in your forum regularly.
Now, you probably wont get a ton of people during your first day or even first week of advertising. Give it time - and stay away from posting packages. If people find out posting packages are the sole generator of new posts, they may not want to be a part of the community. It's like those sites where the admin has a million posts and everyone else has 10...it just doesn't give them any reason to join your site. (That's another thing - watch how many posts you have - don't have 500x's the amount of your other top-posting members.)
Now, lets say a few weeks pass and you only have a couple new regular members and the site's sorta dying out. Then yeah, start a few more posting packages targeted towards a particular category or forum. These should not allow 'general topic' posts - at this point, you need targeted posts on your forum topic...remember your goal - you want new regular members.
Forums with the most posts are successful forums.
Forums with the most posts are not successful communities.
So if you want to have a healthy online community, you need to realize your post count means nothing. Your goal should be to find regular members who will help the community grow. This stuff should help you a little - so good luck.
Forums can grow, but it takes a lot of time and hard work. However, post exchanges and paid posts are some ways to temporarily increase the activity and accelerate the growth speed.
All jokes aside, to be serious for a moment, a forum won't grow just from you ordering paid forum posts, ordering an FP package, ordering an exchange, etc. You need to go to sites that are the same genre as your site, and get your site out there.
Say for example you run a forum that is centered around dogs. Going to a forum that is based around veteranarian and pet health discussion would be a good place to go and put your site in your signature, because all it takes is a few people to see "My site- Talk about your dog and stuff and this and that and that" and join up while they are looking at pet health care.
I know that's a very vague site example, but you get the idea.
Yes, their are hundreds of thousands of growing forums with great communities. Most of the forums on ForumPromotion are other promotion sites and those often won't grow because you have to have a large amount of people to lure in promoters.
Paid forum posting, in my opinion, is a total waste of time. You need members who want to be there just for fun, for its own sake. The best way to do this is get involved in the online community for the genre that your forum is a part of. You'll pick up some buddies and others who might be interested in joining and from there you can grow your forum.
That's kind of an odd question. Of course a forum can grow! It needs members and good posts and staff in order to "survive" so to speak. A Forum has to grow, otherwise it wouldn't even exist. I'll take a favorite quote from a singing group I like and rephrase it so that it goes with a forum:
"Without you there would be no Backstreet Boys" -- Brian Littrell
"Without you there would be no <insert site name here>" -- any grateful forum owner.
So as you can see, a forum needs members, competent staff, and the works in order to survive.
