Can a header or in-post Ad be too tall or long?

I find header ads which are taller then 250 or 280 pixels kind of too tall for a first post ad which is below the title or first post on a blog or forum.

If the ad is longer then the rest of the forum template or the forum is using BBpress which usually have narrow templates then it may look kind of weird.

I can't stand images. I can stand text as long as it's normal site.

I find many banner images are not attrative, so I prefer text ads as well.

I seen some pretty gross looking online dating image ads on Youtube like they took/stole the image from a teenagers/young-adults cell phone camera or web cam.

It is like they can't hire an attractive person which looks like Megan Fox to be in the ad picture.
