So my girlfriend is taking a Web Design class because her Adviser said it would help her with her Business Degree Which is kind of dumb because its not required. Every time she has an assignment due she always goes to me because she has to literally start a whole website from scratch according to the assignment. That's means building the HTML and CSS. I told my girlfriend to use my computer since its equipped with Notepad++ and I made a shortcut to W3 Schools so she can have a reference guide since the textbooks she got is by Pearson (god help me if I see another textbook by Pearson I'm going to loose my mind!)

Now I noticed their are even walkthrough and much easier lesson plans on W3 Schools, I'm asking if anyone please, please... Have any advice that I can help my significant other better then through her stupid textbooks. Those textbooks I tell ya' is sloppy, and not meant for beginners. She is learning basic HTML and CSS, and I think the next lesson she has to do is make her website Mobile friendly... that's where I'm going to start pulling my hair out. I don't want for her to cheat nor give my girlfriend the answers but I need some solid straightforward references.

Thank you.

I think that's strange that her advisor is recommending that she does a web design class if her business degree doesn't require it. (Shouldn't she be focusing on other courses that IS required?)

Anyway, I have very little experience with coding/programming myself, but I think you've come to the right place because there are many individuals here that DO know a lot about this stuff. I understand you want to help your girlfriend but shouldn't she try to seek out these resources herself, it's a class..shouldn't it provide her the references/lessons to actually learn this stuff? Anyway, if she really does need outside resources to get a grasp on the material I know myself have found many answers by using YouTube.

After a quick search here are some videos for example:

Thank you very much @Sharon this was very useful. Some clear videos that my gf can watch. I guess her adviser has a mind sight that it would help her build a website for her business one day, I constantly remind my girlfriend that there are such sites like Weebly which has a website creation software. She didn't drop the class in time because I guess its nearing mid terms. But these videos will have to suffice.

If anyone else has some ideas, please do share. 🙂

Sure, you can learn with that website and also get a certification. However, I'm not sure how much employers value it - though I'm sure they value it some.
