Do you know how to swim? Or at least doggie paddle enough to save your life if you need to?

This summer I'm reading about some drowning deaths that could have been prevented.

If you're ever caught in a rip tide, don't fight it. Go alongside the land inside of heading toward it and you'll get your way out of the rip tide so you can then get to the land. If there are signs warning of rip tides, it's best to not get in the water!

Can't swim well but I can dog paddle but lately I've been afraid of the open water. Drowning/Sharks whatever. So I will safely swim in swimming pools.

I was thrown into a pool around 8 years and told to swim, I learned really quick how to swim. Been swimming since then, mainly in pools now but a lot in the ocean growing up.

I never learned to swim until High School when a gym teacher taught me. I wasn't athletic, but I was fat, so I was buoyant and it helped to keep me afloat 😀 I could also tread water forever since I didn't sink LOL The hardest part was trying to get the brick from the deep end, because I kept popping back to the top. Oh well.

We had a pool at our last house, so I did a lot of swimming to keep in shape. I don't miss the chlorine or having to pay for all the chemicals and time to take care of the pool, so I don't think I ever want one again.

I used to go to the Indiana Dunes at Lake Michigan as a teenager. There were some waves, so we didn't really swim, we just jumped the waves and had fun. That's where I learned about rip currents.

Well, I've always been interested in swimming but it's a pity that I can't swim. Maybe, I would go for a lesson someday.

I'm not saying I'm a very expert swimmer but yes I can swim. I can easily get from one end of the pool to the other without drowning..

I'm not the best swimmer but I can keep myself from drowning lol. I learned how to swim when I was 9 years old, I know that's a little late but eh.

I did a lot of swimming when I was in elementary school. One year, we actually went to one of the local rec centers, where we had swim classes, divided up based on where we were at in our swimming knowledge. I pretty much stopped once I hit middle school as I got interested in other activities, and I don't really get in the water much these days. I haven't forgotten how to swim, but it's not really a skill I use super often either.

I can't but I do love going to the hydrotherapy pool at the local pool. I'll either stay down the shallow end or hold onto something.

When I was around 11 years of age we were given a lump of polystyrene and forced to paddle the length of the school swimming pool until we could swim unaided. It was pretty brutal but it got the job done.

I used to go swimming regularly until the local pool closed and our water company started pumping raw sewage into the sea.

I'm glad I can swim. I don't remember how old I was when my aunt taught me to swim but I'm glad she taught me.
