Can't create forums

Okay so this is the first time I've used phpBB, so you probably think I'm stupid. Why can I not set the forum's parent forum to the category? They won't show on the boards.

I don't own the site so I can't give you access! I'm just wondering why the parent forum is not selectable!

Did you delete the first section with the welcome to phpbb3 post because you're supposed to create a section with those permissions first. 😛

Ya i did that mistake too when i first setup phpbb and then i was like what did i do wrong 😛

How did you fix it?

You can delete the "My First Category" but if you do you will need to set permissions for the Categories you create, once you have done one, you can then copy permissions.

Categories will not show on the Index page until you have created a forum within them, when you create a forum you can also "copy permissions" from the category, it saves you having to do it time and time again.
