What do you do when you can't sleep? Of course, my thing might be I'm on something with a bright light (a computer of course!) but I think the reason why I can't sleep is because I have a follow-up appointment with the dermatoligist (SP?) I have a condition called Psoriases, which is not contagious, and cannot be cured, only controlled. Now we went to the doctor not too long ago, and she put me on meds for the psoriases, but then she also told us about something called Psoriatic Arthritis. If you know what regular arthritis is, it's kind of like that, but It's related to psoriases more than anything else. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I might have it because I do have joint pains off and on, and I know one time that when I was at work, I had this huge pain in one of my elbows, and it felt like I'd been sleeping in a stupid direction or something... that's how much it hurt. But I more often than not get it in my knees (the pain, I mean). I'm messed up I can say that much, ha ha. But back on topic, what do you do when you can't sleep? I'm actually thinking of turning all the lights off and listen to some music fofr a while and have a midnight snack.

Best thing you can do is just turn everything off and try to sleep, works for me, requires patience though.

You could try exercising before you lay down. It will tire you out and make it easier to fall asleep. It works for me.

Well, went in today and found out I may have psoriatic arthritis, so I probably could be trying out a few stretches in a bit, here.... will be referred to a specialist to find out for sure... what a summer this has been for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like to listen to calming music and drink warm tea and then curl up and try to get warm and snug and hopefully then sleep 🙂

I have a really bad habit if I cant sleep.
His name is Jack
We have a bit of a relationship
The wife thinks we are too close.

Yup...good old Jack Daniels Whiskey:happy:

Strange as it sounds but i smoke before bed.
I know nicotine is a stimulant but it helps you relax, then afterwards if you can't sleep generally put my ipod in.

I hate when I can't sleep good or fall asleep.

I've been dealing with sleep issues for years and years.

When I can't sleep, I do pushups to tire myself out. That sometimes works. If it doesn't, then I pick up a book and read until I drop.

I do the push ups bit, but I can't sleep when I read a book. :/

Ashley, has any of this information people have been providing been working?

Well, now we've been really busy moving my grandmother to the nursing home in another town, so that's been tiring me out as it is. And I usually take Benedryl, as I do have asthma, so that helps with the when I get stuffed up and stuff like that.

When I cannot go to sleep huh. I barely sleep as it is. I go to bed around 3-4AM. But if I cannot pass out then I smoke a cig and take a sleeping pill.

I myself have ever had sleeping problems. I normally only get 3 or 4 hours sleep a night. I go to bed at 3/4am to get up for college at 6am... out of the time I DO actually sleep I listen to music... yes I listen to music contantly. Try it... it really works. 🙂 I get annoyed when I don't listen to music ha ha.

Minus the getting the three to four hours of sleep, the music thing describes me to a tee. I can't go through a whole day without listening to music. Sometimes I'll listen while posting on forums! I'm not good at multi-tasking like that as I don't always listen to the whole thing of a CD, but other than that, the music-bit describes me as well. If I don't listen I usualy end up humming or singing at the top of my voice or something like that.

No I mean like proper listening to music as in I listen to music a good 22/23 hours a day...

When can't sleep I usually read my course-books or else start writing up an essay.
