Is capital punishment ethical? Is is constitutional (for you in the US)?

Capital punishment is the death penalty, Dasher. Corporal punishment is when you hit somebody to punish him/her.

I tend to disagree with both capital and corporal punishment.

 Gotta love what happens in 7 minutes.

Snobo: Why do you disagree with corporal punishment? The kids won't learn unless you spank them!

The death penalty satisfies the need for revenge. I'd rather a criminal be reduced to an 8x10 for the rest of their life.

But the death penalty allows prisoners to escape their problems. I'd rather waterboard people... XD

It's hitting a child. I can't agree with that no matter what the circumstances are.

I agree with both capitol and corporal.

Corporal:
You need to get people in line, like children, they need to know what's right and wrong and the consequences when they do wrong things.

Capitol:
We(USA) sentence criminals to life behind bars. REALLY?! Just hang them! You are taking up too much space by keeping them. And what does the government say? It will cost more to kill them then to lock them up. Not if you stick them in my backyard, i will use MY ROPE, that I PAID FOR, so it won't cost you guys a dime, and we don't have to worry about prison break happening.

By the rest of their life I mean a life sentence without parole. I don't agree with the death penalty.

As long as people don't take it too far (as in seriously injuring the child), I agree. If they don't get seriously injured, you still disagree? *makes new, corporal punishment thread.*

Sorry, misread your original post. 😛

It's been a matter of debate here in the UK for a long time, we used to have the death penalty but no longer do.

In this day and age with the discovery of DNA there should technically be no miscarriages of justice, I think for certain types of criminals the death penalty should be used, serial killers, paedophiles and rapists. The problem with this is where to draw the line? Murderers come in several categories, premeditated, manslaughter, mercy killing or accidental, so which constitutes the harshest sentence?

The reason I advocate it is that some criminals will never reform, take Peter Sutcliffe or Ian Brady, these men show no remorse even after 30 years of being institutionalised. These types are a waste of tax payers money and serve no other purpose to life, in fact they are using up oxygen that good people could use. If they don't feel remorse then keeping them in a cell to think over what they did is pretty pointless.

No death penalty.
I'm alright with corporal punishment. I think a parent should have the rights to slap their child on the head if they do something wrong.
