Do you join a car pool? It is one way of saving on transportation expenses not to mention the wear and tear of your car. Before I bought my own car, I was in a car pool for years such that I had developed friendship with my car pool mates. Car pool is also a way of socializing. It had been an enjoyable experience to be in a car pooling.

My supervisor and I used to alternate driving each other to and from work, since we lived in the same area, but that's the closest I've been to a carpool. I prefer to drive on my own.

I don't even drive, I never wanted to learn. I'll either use public transport or see if a friend is going somewhere and tag along. It saves money, as well as is conservative to the environment. I definitely support car pooling. If I'm in a rush, I could simply let my wallet die and use Uber.

I consider getting to drive this year if it was cheap 😛 and it's not

A lot less convenient, though.
You save money and conserve the environment. It's killing two birds in one stone. It's not for everyone though, depending on your schedule and job it might not be an option. I mainly do freelance work so I can work from home or whatever, not everyone has that ability though.

I disagree that it benefits the environment to use Uber, as more fuel is actually being consumed since the individual has to come pick you up, and then get back to wherever after dropping you off.
You can also walk or bicycle depending on the distance. You'll also drive less, you won't do things like drive your car to the next parking lot over, rather you'll walk as it'd be a big waste of money. So in someways you conserve, but it really depends on how you use it and how often.

barbados is so small you can ride or bus it to get any place, only time people in my country is worried about a car is if they party at night and need to get home

I have carpooled before. Never really got into it much, as I eventually switched over to public transportation. The public transportation here is funded by taxes, so it makes it effectively cheaper to get to where I need to go for work.
