I think we all have some sort of career aspirations. The dreams we had as kids and now the dreams we have as adults.

As a kid I always wanted to work for the CIA and be an international spy like James Bond. Now that I'm older, I think my aspiration is to run for public office one day and become a politician. I love meeting people and I'm sick of the current system and I want to make a difference. I believe in "Be the difference you want to see."

What are your career aspirations? What do you think of mine? 🙂

As a kid I wanted to be a fireman 😛 I thought fire engines were just the coolest things ever

Now I want to be a web designer/developer. I love creating things, and being a web developer is something I love and am really good at 🙂

I wanted to be a mum as a kid and I did become a mum of 4 lovely children
Now they have left home I am training to be a care assistant

I'd like to be president someday, but I'm fairly certain that won't happen. 😛

Anyway, I'm happy where I am. I make a pretty good salary, and my work isn't half bad. 🙂

When I was around the age of 10 I wanted to be a bus driver. I don't know why, but I found driving around in this long twinkie was really cool.

Then it went to being a police officer/FBI Agent. Then I grew out of that and now I really have no idea what I want to do. The more I think about it the more it's all a blurry fuzz of reality. I've thought about being a flight attendant, travel the world for free and get something no one else working in an office will ever get.

Honestly, I have no idea what I want to do now. I've yet to find something I am amazing at and people actually want in a person to hire. 😛

I have two potential career paths I want to follow. The first of which is to become a special education teacher and work my way up to principal for elementary.

The second, and more likely, career path at this point is to go onto a master's program for student affairs and become a university residence/hall director and work my way up to VP/dean of student affairs.

I'm in a pretty interesting position myself. When I graduated out of Highschool, I was already pretty experienced in programming. I ended up getting an internship and started working the summer before I started college. My first task was to develop a software program to accomplish a particular task. It was pretty much set up as a summer project.

I ended up staying with the company, working throughout college, and I still do, currently. But in the meantime, the software I created at the beginning of my internship has grown significantly. There's now a four-person group dedicated to it, of which I'm the development lead. It's a very good position to be in going out of college: most students start off with menial tasks such as testing, but I've managed to get an extremely good head start.

I'm pretty happy in my role right now. A development lead gets to do a lot of hands-on programming, but also has a huge say in the direction the product moves. It's kind of a "best of both worlds" position, where you get to do real work, but are also pretty important. At some point I'd like to move up a bit. Hopefully I'll become a manager at some point, but at minimum I'll definitely be a very senior software developer, given my current trajectory.

My more wild aspirations include becoming a science fiction / fantasy writer. I'm not working at this as much as I should, but I think I have it in me if I work at it enough.

That's awesome 🙂

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a doctor, and I still do. I plan to either be a doctor or an RN still. 😛
