Part of website management deals with the users and volunteers you attract. As any good manager, you should want to provide value to both your external customers (the users and guests) as well as the internal customers (your volunteers and staff). Many times, staff will be unpaid volunteers dedicating their time to your website. One strategy that can be used is to support personal and career development.

How can you or do you provide experience that allows for development of transferable skills that can be taken over into the real world? Have you ever seen your website used in a professional manner by a user or staff?

I run websites, including blogs and forums, as a way to generate income. I never run a website as a hobby project. Therefore, since early on my aim is to monetize my site and if I need staff, my aim is always to offer some incentives. When I work on forums, I usually do not work for free
