Do you censor words on your forum? If so, what do you replace them with?
I don’t censor words on mine. I haven’t come across somebody “talking like a sailor”. I feel we are all adults & I also don’t believe in censorship. Now, if every other word was swearing or derogatory to another, then I’d talk to that person in private.
I remember when I first started creating and running forums, I did debate on censoring words and I would censor really bad and offensive words just to be on the safe side but in terms of normal cuss words, I would leave them. Many people who used my forums as members didn't really cuss too much so it wasn't a big issue if I am honest but having the really foul and abusive ones censored helped me to keep trolls from going on a rampage with very vulgar words.
I really don't bother doing it, members know where to draw the line, in a private forum is a little different but open forums if one does start to get out of line that member gets put into moderation.🙂
