Hello, everyone!
I'm excited to tell you about the most recent changes to FP. We have a lot to take in on this post that's been in the works for the past few months, and I'm very excited to tell everyone about it!
Staff Shakeup:
Over the past few weeks, we've seen quite a few staff members leave, and today is no different. I'd like to give my thanks to Reverie and Thomas for their dedication over the past few months. Without them, FP probably wouldn't be at this point. However, now we have some old faces coming back, and a promotion that I'm very excited to tell everyone about!
Belthazar has returned to the admin team! John has previously been on the admin team, and he's come back to take the role of Admin Team Leader. He'll be handling the leadership of FP from here on out. If you need anything, don't hesitate to contact him!
MeowsePad has also returned to the admin team! MeowsePad was an admin back in 2013, and since then she was also a Package Team Member. MeowsePad will mainly be working with the community to ensure that member's input is being heard, as well as implemented. I'm sure she'd love to talk to you!
Gio is the new Review Team Leader! Gio has shown his expertise regarding FP, leadership, and forums in general while helping Thomas run the Community Team. As someone who's long been one of Gio's friends, I'd like to offer a huge congratulations to him!
Allenafaith has been promoted to Community Team Leader! Allena has been a staff member for well over a year now, and since then she's shown her dedication and care towards the FP community. I have the utmost confidence that she'll do an awesome job in this position!
XenForo Conversion:
After much debate, we've decided that moving to XenForo is the best way for FP to advance. While we agree that phpBB is a very good software, they will very soon be moving to phpBB 3.2, which would render our phpBB 3.1 a version behind. Due to security reasons, we don't want to be running a version behind. After considering all of our options, we've decided that the software XenForo is the best option to give our members what they want. On September 13th, we will be doing the conversion. Please plan for substantial downtime over this period. The conversion will start around 9 AM (GMT) and will last somewhere from six to ten hours. FP will not be accessible over this time. We will send a mass email when the conversion is over, and will post consistent updates on our Twitter page showing our progress.
A New Direction:
While we cannot change what we've done in the past, we can apologize for it. In the past, some suggestions have been ignored, some members have been mismanaged, and there has been an overall lack of progress. That is all over now, however. I just ask that everyone please "turn the page", so to say. The new administration has been tailor made to listen to suggestions, then implement them. Over the next few weeks, you'll see numerous posts in Community Matters asking for opinions, and your opinions will not be ignored. In addition, you're always welcome to PM any member of administration if you would like to talk about anything.
Conclusion:
Out of all this, I'd like to stress this point: FP is moving forward to help you, the members of the community have the best possible promotion forum. If you have any suggestions at all for the forum, please feel free to PM an administrator. We are always available to listen. If you would rather share your suggestion with all users, though, you are always welcome to post a topic in Community Matters! We will make it a priority to respond to all topics there. Administrators will happily give you their Skype name if you prefer that method of contact. All of these changes are being made to directly to help you, the members.
