Changing Forumware

Is it possible to change forumware without losing any data?
How its done if its possible?

Do you mean software? If so yes, Ive done it a few times with my forums.
For example if you want to convert your phpbb forum to MyBB you would download this: http://www.mybboard.net/downloads/merge-system

or smf: http://download.simplemachines.org/?converters

If you're trying to get away from Forumotion, you have to use nneonneo's converter to convert to phpBB 3. After that, you can stick with phpBB 3, or you can use the phpBB 3 database and move anywhere.

The converter is hard, but if you really want someone to do it, I could do it for you.

You can't as the converter won't get the info from freeforums as it isn't compatible with freeforums.org. You can pay for a db backup from freeforums if you want.

If you think your forum will do good in the long term, then why not buy a copy of the database? That way you won't have to risk losing content.

I am not too sure whether my forum will go far. As i just create to kill time off and as a hobby. I want to change forum software as it will make better.

Sadly, no. It doesn't seem like freeforums.org can convert to anywhere. I converted a Zetaboards and a forumer (IPB 1.3) forum to one MyBB forum by converting them both to phpBB 2 and then to MyBB. I also converted a Zetaboards forum to IPB 3.0 through phpBB 2 (and 3). It can basically convert anywhere if you convert to phpBB first, and that isn't supported, sorry. Also, the converter takes forever. It isn't like the MyBB merge system, which will basically convert everything 2-3x as fast as a phpBB MOD installation.

Ok thank you guys, I was just asking about changing from one sofware to another, forumotion was not in my mind. And I would like to stick with it for now.

If it's xxx to IPB 3.0, they also provide stuff to redirect old URLs (or even vBSEO URLs as well) to IPB URLs.

Guys is there a way to convert from a lefore forum? I mean hosted at eamped or lefora and convert is into any other forum sofware.
