I think it's a good move. If you prefer it to be based around PC Gaming you can still go with that just also incorporate a console area and whatever else.
A suggestion overall is actually more gaming areas, which includes that. It's a bit odd you having more off topic areas than gaming.
Depends how solid your user base is now. If it's plenty popular, branching out is good. If it's only so-so or you're doing it to attract more users and you have little, I'd say no.
I think you should stick to having a niche forum mate as you seem to be doing ok. However if you want to branch out then I’d highly recommend you bring on board someone who’s interested in operating a gaming community so they can take on the burden of such an expansion. This way there’s no danger of neglecting the old crowd (your current user base) whilst your new friend is pleasing the new crowd (the one you want to attract).
You'll alienate your current user base as a lot of PC gamers don't like to associate with console gamers. It's like having a wine connoisseur forum and branching out to the college drinking community
