Do you do it often? I am considering it.

I use the name 'Flux' almost everywhere, if I can't have it I use a variation of it, but I am getting tired of it and I want something that represents me more, I am thinking of changing my alias on all forums to 'Dabs'. Do you think this would be a good move, or would it dent my online credibility?

I've used Tucker933 since 2004, and I haven't thought to change it since. I feel it's important to maintain an identity if you do more than just surf the web.
I've developed and released a lot of content, know a lot of people and those that search for me through this alias, so it wouldn't be a good idea if I were to change.

If someone were to search 'Flux' I doubt they'd find me. I am considering it but it would be a big change.

Added a poll.

If you do decide to make the change what you could do is include a message in your signature, something like "previous username Flux". That way members of the various forums you are on, will know who you are once you have changed your identity.

If you're wondering, Dabs is my nickname.

Don't change it. For like a solid month everyone would wonder who you are, plus you'd lose a lot of your earned "respect". 😉

Agreed, it's your identity and keep it if there is history behind it. Plus people will get annoyed by it like pandaa mentioned in his post.

how long have you had the username Flux?

i think it s pretty cool and you should keep it

About 6+ months.

The only change I've made was from GAK (my initials) to Geoffrey (my first name). And I still use GAK in a lot of signatures and stuff and a lot of people still call me that.

I say keep Flux. 😛
