Chat Room Software

Hello folks!

Does anyone know of a nice, clean, free, professional chat room software with administrative features? Frankly, RealChat is the only decent software I can find, and it costs 300+ bucks. We may want to spend that sort of money later - once Simvision gets fairly active again - but not this early in the process.

I know http://www.cbox.ws/ offers a great service, I use them for my more personal communications.

As for a self-hosted script, I've been looking as well for quite awhile with no luck at all. I wanted it to be datbase driven though, so It's possible a 'normal' one could be easier to find.

I bought the premium package or whatever with cbox, don't.

It gives you so extra features sure.. But nothing worth anything.. Their customer service is horrible.. When I was trying to integrate it with phpbb I had to beg for information.. Then someone came out with a lightweight mod for a chatroom for phpbb3 so I didn't need cbox anymore until I tried to integrate it with my new ipb forum.

Once again, they said "Someone seems to be working on a way to integrate it right now. I'll be sure to get back with you when they figure it out."

Aww.. come on! What are the odds you will remember I emailed you about this among all the others who have as well?

meebo is decent.. I used them a long time ago.. I don't like the fact they have adverts though.. 🙁
