It's always sad to see a forum close. We do understand that real life comes first. 🙂
It is with a heavy heart that we must close up Chattingtime.. with two founders with nearly full schedules and real world obligations it's been getting harder to really sit down and promote this place anymore. I also need more time with family and friends as well.
We'll start with disabling new registration for the time being and I won't go no further till I can get advice from @SpacewardAsh on where we go from here. I'm sure he'll make it so you guys can grab topics you've made here and bring them to other forums but that's all I'm sure on right now. Thank you so much for your dedication, time and not to mention the discussion you brought to this forum we will never ever forget it.
I'll post it directly here in case people are curious, on mobile, etc.
So sorry to hear about this. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do. 🙂
If you can, I'd almost keep it as an archive with not being able to register on the forum etc.
You basically turn all forums into read-only and de-activate account registrations. That way the forums are still there as an archive and the work you've done still exists, it also means if you ever want to re-start it in the future, you've got your content and accounts still in place. Is this possible with phpbb? If so how do you do it? Or do you change forum permission so that only reading the posts is allowed?
Yep, I didn't do this for my forum on ZetaBoards at the time. I just closed it down. No one asked for any of their posts/threads besides the co-admin who I demoted afterwards. You basically turn all forums into read-only and de-activate account registrations. maybe someone will take over and buy it and keep it running 🙂
