I've got myself Ubuntu 9.10 and a load of new kick ass security. Linux only has around 800 - 1,000 viruses. Windows has a few hundred million.

Its not 800-1000 viruses there are worms and trojans aswell.

This is nothing new. Viruses like these have existed for years.

None of them will work on a updated system anyway, and most of them won't do a lot if they aren't able to be root.

True, but if the statistics hold true for both, there are is a CONSIDERABLY lower threat to Linux users.

That said, the Linux userbase is a lot more tech savvy than the Windows/Mac userbase - hence why we have Linux viruses and no Macintosh viruses.

And this story is just plain creepy. I'm upgrading my security a notch now.
