My first thought is that you have way too many areas. Especially since you say you currently only have 32 members. A lot of those sections can be condensed together, to keep things neat looking and compact. Especially in the case of a low member count, you don't want people searching around, trying to find out where to post. And once they do, since it's so vast, some of their posts may go completely unnoticed because other members might not venture into the area that it was posted. Really, you need just a small amount of different forums on there, where people can discuss a broader range of topics.
One more thought is the background image. It's a bit too distracting, and doesn't really fit in with the look of everything either. I do hope you find success though 🙂
Thanks for the input! We have already reduced our number of boards GREATLY from over 259 down to what it is now! On our site we do want it laid out in detail as far as boards go. We don't want it like "all the rest" and have a few boards that so many people could talk about a wide variety of things in that 1 board. As far as the background we will see what we can do!
Well another good thing about having fewer forums on there, is that it helps build a sense of community, if people actually get to see other users more, talk to them, and see what they're up to. In a lot of cases, having a bunch of really specific areas is great, but that's when you have more members. It just doesn't seem that necessary with your current member base. However, you're still free to run it however you'd like 😛
I have seen this style work on other boards where they have a large amount of forums but it has been mainly on religious sites...board looks good though..
Yes, it's much better now. It's much more calm, and blends in with everything else, and allows the users to more easily focus on the content. The visuals of the site should be something easy to look out. Something that doesn't attack the user's vision so much. Most time, neat, simple, and clean work pretty well for a design.
