1. Remember to use as many characters as possible, with a minimum of six to eight.

2. Try to add numbers as well as letters. If possible, try using symbols such as * , #, $.

3. If you can try to randomly capitalize letters if the password is case-sensitive. e.g. MnIb12

4. Remember to avoid using your name (that's the most common mistake), or the names of your friends or family members, and don't use your birthday, address, phone number or any other things that people may know about you.

5. If possible avoid using an actual word from any language that can be found in an dictionary.

6. Use a different password for all your different login's.

7. Try to change your password every three to six months, especially if your account gives you access to personal information.

8. Try to find an easy way to remember your password. If you can, try to avoid writing it down.

9. Don't share your password with anyone.

Mine is 31 characters, including symbols, capitals, lower case and numbers. No one will get me 😀 lol

I must add that your reputation may be a key thing. You've got to ask, why would someone try to crack your password, and not someone else's? If its forum-wise, someone at your forum might have said or done something, so thats a motive for cracking passwords.

Crackers are quite selective, and they (most of the time) know what they are doing.

Thanks SettledHate.!

That's half of the reasons why people get hacked. The other half are because people are idiots, find someone that looks active and good around the forums guess a number of different passwords and finally get into the account. Mainly because of the useless password choosen in the first place.
