Since I have been throwing parties for poor kids I need to do a lot of planning and my shopping starts around August
When my daughter was little, I always started in September. We had a toy store in our town that put things on clearance so they could have space for the new Christmas items, so I'd go and get her a lot of toys at a great price!
Now I wait until around the end of November to start.

I try to get some things throughout the year for my kids so it isn’t overwhelming by the time Christmas comes.
Don't forget my gift this year I couldn't find it anywhere last year 🤷♀️
I'll buy stuff for my pets on Black Friday since I can get a good deal on everything that day, but I'll pick up presents for other people some time between end of November and the last weekend before Christmas. I usually try to go around mid-December if possible to avoid the last minute craziness and to make sure I can find what I want. I'll write down ideas throughout the year though if I think of something and finalize a list before I go shopping to make it a little bit easier, and sometimes, I'll even do a little window shopping online if I can to give myself a better direction of where to go to save myself some time.
I usually start about the time the kiddos are going back to school (the kids go back to school in mid August here where I live) and I'm normally done by Halloween. My grandmother use to do her Christmas shopping in September or October and I never understood why when I was a kid. Now that I work in retail, I understand why she did her Christmas shopping early.
I just wait until November or even December.
