Hey all,

I bought a Chromebook recently, being rather sceptical at first because of the reviews, I decided to buy it anyway, and oh I am very happy I did.

I know what you are thinking, it's just a flashy tablet with a keyboard running Google Chrome browser with apps, oh I thought this and I was very wrong.

The Chromebook I bought is, in my opinion, the best value for money Chromebook on the market right now. I paid £160 brand new, its an Acer Chromebook R11 and it boots up quicker than my £700 HP laptop I bought last year. Granted, it has an SSD inside and a very light Chrome OS, but it's something you would expect on a much higher end laptop and you can do so much with this machine.

It's extremely light and It has a 360-degree dual-torque hinge, meaning you can flip this into a tablet, or stand it on a desk to watch a movie. It also has a touchscreen which I use much more then I anticipated I would, I even find myself trying to touch my HP laptop's screen, it's not touchscreen but I am so used to the Chromebook, dare I say this is the future of all laptops? Maybe not, but it certainly comes in handy when scrolling through websites and zooming in when using a pinch gesture, it does support multi-gesture. The battery lasts me a solid 12 hours even with heavy usage! No laptop I have ever had has come close to this.

I find myself using this over my laptop, I can surf the net, watch videos, run GIMP for photo manipulation, manage my website, and much more and fast!

I'm rambling on, I know, I do apologize, I guess the novelty has not worn off how good Chromebooks are.

What are your thoughts on Chromebooks?

From what I had read, Chromebooks are considered mini laptops that is designed for internet access. It is similar to the Notebook that I bought for my sister who is not techie and would just like to experience using a computer. I recently bought an HP laptop but it is intended for some other software like video editing that I don't think a Chromebook can handle. But with the difference in cost, I'd say that a Chromebook is economical for ordinary users.
