Couldn't find a topic on this, so let's start a new one.

What are your thoughts on circumcision?

I remember there being a topic on this in this forum.

Anyway, who cares what another guy's thingy looks like? I don't.

Done or not, you can still please your partner & function as a regular male all the same.

Seems kinda pointless if you ask me. I mean, some people do it for medical reasons, and that's fine, but otherwise it just seems like a waste of time.

Yeah there was one a while ago Travis.

I agree with you both. I mean people don't realize that the foreskin is actually a protective piece of skin like the eyelid. It keeps your "head" moist and protected.

Yeah, I agree. It just causes unneccesary pain. Removing a perfectly normal, functioning body part? *shakes head*

If it wasn't needed it wouldn't be there, as with everything on a human body, even your appendix do something. Mostly it's done for religion or hygiene or medical reasons, I don't know of anyone who got it done for fun? What I want to know is this.......Is it just a myth that Americans all get it done?

Not true MissTake, but most people do.

Religion, resmigdeon. It's for hygiene purposes.

Yes it is for hygiene, but the need for it can be negated by just cleaning your children right when they are babies and teching them to clean themselves as they grow. It's an unnecessary, but popular procedure.

haha and for some reason I was expecting a poll.

My thoughts are if you want to do it, then do it, if not, then don't. Simple as that.

Are you actually suggesting that a baby that's less than a week old should decide whether they're circumcised or not?

A man, as an adult, should make this choice.

Yeah, but as an adult, it defeats the purpose.
It serves the purpose completely as at this point in society it is more a tradition and cosmetic surgery than something that is necessary.

Teach your children when little to clean the funk off their junk. If you can do that, this procedure is unnecessary unless their is actual pain in the area.

Let's face it. Kids don't do everything you tell them. It sounds good in theory, but circumcision is much more convenient.

Tell that to the baby who is getting chopped up.

There are also accidents involved where the little one will um... not be whole when complete. Add in the fact that plenty of young men resent their parents for choosing to remove a section of their body. And as with any surgery, there are more risks than just chopping off a bit too much. It is much safer to just leave it on and take the time to properly teach your children to bathe... and take that extra few seconds to bathe them right as babies. Then when they are adults and want to make that choice, they can. To teach children correctly you have to take the time to understand how they learn best. Also with children you have to be honest and explain things at their level. You obviously can't use a lot of big words, but you can explain to them why they need to clean better and how to do it. You can also explain to them, the consequences, in a way that they will understand.

I don't mean to seem rude, but the aspects of birth, raising children, and psychology are all things that I am highly interested in and have spent a good deal of time researching and talking about with others.

Circumcision should be used as a LAST RESORT in medical situations ONLY. I'll forget about religion right now, but obviously it is used then. If a baby is born with an exceptionally tight foreskin and more minor operations or other treatment is not possible - circumcision should be used.

If for example another part of the peni s (yes, the word peni s is blocked) is too tight and causing difficulties, in many situations you can have a minor operation which is likely not to effect you in future anywhere near as much as circumcision could.

Did you know 18 in 100,000 circumcisions result in death? Did you know about the conditions that babies have to suffer when circumcised? They're usually strapped to a board and the thing is just chopped off. It wasn't until about 1989 I think when it was realised that infants DO feel pain, and local anesthetic is used. Anesthesia can actually be lethal for infants too, which is why the whole thing is so ludicrous.

Less serious tight foreskin (the vast majority of cases) can be treated using usually very easy treatment which will leave no harm later in life. These can include simply stretching the foreskin (there are fun ways of doing this I'm sure you can imagine,) using steroid creams and a few more.

I keep on mentioning problems later in life. Well, circumcision has a vast array of effects that it can carry on later into adulthood. The first is less sensitivity - usually you don't hear people complain of it as most people who are circumcised know no different. But actually a lot of sensitivity is lost, which makes sex less pleasurable. People see the foreskin as just being a useless piece of skin there for no real reason. This is wrong.

The foreskin has loads of nerve endings, tissues etc. and acts as a natural lubricant during sexual intercourse which once again increases pleasure. It's there for a reason and like any other part of the body should be kept whenever possible.

Agent, hygiene purposes? Myth mate. A functioning foreskin can be retracted easily to wash the glans. You don't need it chopped off to be able to do that. Though yes, that is (along with the POSSIBLE AND UNPROVEN slightly lowered risk of some types of rare cancer) one of the two possible advantages of circumcision. It remains to be true that no medical organization recommends circumcision. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

CIRCUMCISION SHOULD NOT BE USED BECAUSE YOU DON'T TRUST A CHILD TO WASH THEIR SMEGMA OFF. Teach the child to do it, tell them what might happen if they don't and you'll be fine.

America: We mutilate our dicks and use the imperial system because we can.
F*** Yeah!

Less resistance. 😛

And always remember..
before you attack her, wrap your whacker

I'll tell you right now, here in the US, if you aren't circumcised, at least at my age and in my generation, you're considered a huge weirdo/outcast. You won't be doing much attacking or wrapping/whacking, to say the least. Trust me, I know of people who aren't circumcised.

@ Agent
It should be a choice that a male makes himself. As soon as you are born you are automatically taken to the table and cut. No choice being made, and you are being your denied right of choosing how you want to look for the rest of your life.

@MissTake
In America, most people do it. I believe the statistic is 15% of the world is circumsized. I know in Europe it's more popular belief to be un-circumsized. As I'm of European decent and both my parents are immigrants they chose not to circumsize me. Personally I'm very happy that I was given the chance to decide for myself.

Back in the 1800's, for hygiene reasons I could understand circumcision. But, with technology advancing and hygiene getting better in the last 150 years, why the need. Scientists say that we are so clean as a people that you don't even have to clean the extra skin anymore. Infection rates have dropped dramatically.

Here's a good website with a good video if you all would like to view it. http://www.intactamerica.org/
