This movie is based on the musical opera written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. With abstract parts, the film is a retelling of the passion and suffering of Jesus of Nazareth. Ted Neely played the title role and supported by Carl Anderson as Judas with Yvone Elliman as Mary Magdalene. Like other musicals, the songs in the film also became blockbusters in the charts.
