Clear Alternative to VB?

What is a free Alternative to VB?

I hate Phpbb. I have looked at Ikonboard but even that is paid 😛

AnElectron is pretty good. YaBB is good, but a bit more resource draining.

Out of the free ones, MyBB is the closest to vB. Whichever path you take between phpBB3, SMF and MyBB (the three most commonly used free software solutions) is your own personal choice.

I recommend MyBB from my own experience. Others will no doubt disagree.

MyBB by far. Especially when they release 1.6 soon it just seems to be a lost better than phpBB. I do realize a lot of people stick with phpBB, and that's fine, but no software is perfect.

I hope you do realise planning for phpBB4 has already started 😎
Also hope you know they re-code the whole software from scratch every time it is a major release.

I despise phpBB, yet I've been on here for over two years, and staff on here for about 8 months.

I don't get how me being staff here has anything to do with the software it is using?

I hate phpbb because I have used it for all my projects and I am just not satisfied with it's outcome.

All reason I put that is me personally could not use a site or be on if I wasnt happy with the software but thats just me and least I know now why 😉

Well, I would recommend LiteSoft, but it sucks, so stick with MyBB.

I work with what I get :great: and i'm tired of the Phpbb back end and all the stuff that you have to add. I am not bored with any of the posting pages or anything.

I agree, I am about ready to switch software too. phpBB is just a pain. Although it usually looks better than most.

Interesting in the 5+ years of using it never had any major faults with it but each to thier own.

The length of time installing MODs, poor styles and it rewrites the whole code when it updates.

It's a big pain to install mods. That's all.
