Anyone use the open source project Clipbucket? I find it works wonderfully well.

Did you create a site with it Fluffy, if so would you mind sharing the URL?

My concern with starting a video sharing site is that it would require a huge amount of hosting space and bandwidth to run it.

I've used this software before. I couldn't manage to upload a file though. It was probably the file format or the host I was on.

If the file was bigger then 2mb then you would have hit the php file size limit. You can increase that limit though in most cases.

Not got one published to the web. All mine are Localhost run. Also if I was to publish one to the web would only allow embedded and would remove any allowance of uploading and only embedded what I put in the FTP so it still has the FLV files and such but only ones I allow which means that it will not use as much space.
