Re: Starting my own hosting company.

1. Find a theme and stick with it.
2. Offer deals.
3. Make sure it's all done and hosting is up as much as possible.
4. Find the best way to offer hosting(Pay per, Set plans, ect)

I have made way to many mistakes when creating a hosting company to count.

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

Not to offend you. Running a host is a lot of work. Its hard to get you foot in the door. But if you keep at it and dont give up its possible. Getting members is a pain. Once you get those members. Try to get a great reputation not a good but great so they tell other members.

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

Have a good layout and support team ready
Make sure when you have clients don't have ANY downtime

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

Have a good template, good price and secure and fast hosting also your host should be trusted and you should always behave correct towards your clients.
Anyhow I pmed you with something.

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

It is very hard to make it in the hosting businesses now days because the successful hosts stared in the early 2000s and they have the money, knowledge, and lot of employes.

Can you offer what they offer for lower price with out over selling? Can you provide 24 support? Are you willing to risk all your money into this? If you did not answer yes to all three questions I do not recommend that you start hosting company.

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

It is very hard to get customers on paid host as because there is huge competition is present in world of host that's why i am advising you that start with first free hosting there are a lot directories for entries of free web host and there is lot of demand of free host you can add force ads for revenue and then after getting huge users , you can offer a more better server premium server and you can give hosting accounts in 50 % discount for current users as because this will make users feel your host cheap and good for their current site so they move their site to your paid host you can also provide moving of accounts from free server to paid. As usual a very good looking template or front page which describe your all plans need for paid host and if you are starting with free host you can use forum as main page and support also. If you need any step by step guide or need more describe or need a service for building your host you can ask me!

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

If you have money to spend and can keep a server up for a few months without getting anymore try doing this.

Get a few friends that you know that have websites and offer to host them for free and make sure the server can handle what they want on it. try not to restart the server unless its very necessary, and keep it that way for a month or so and ask your friends to spread the word around. Then open up with paid plans and maybe limited free accounts per month. Hopefully people would have read the reviews your friends have given out and try to keep it that way with no downtime, perfect support (don't be slow though).

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do. Making your own hosting company should be hard, but i guess if you try hard enough you can do it 🙂

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

Hosting is really a saturated business. If you offer it for higher amount, people would prefer bigger companies than yours. If you offer it for cheaper, it would be hard to maintain.

And, just to mention, reseller isn't very best idea, as most of the reseller hosts oversell and don't consider to keep up server resources.
Starting up, atleast with a VPS will be a good idea. But you must get a good VPS else, it can't handle the load. And even if you get it, you mush be able to keep it up, even if you don't get much sales. As people needs to analyze it better before buying from you.

You need a lot of investment in it, and a reseller won't be enough for such a market. Sorry to disappoint you.

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

I wouldn't recommend starting a web hosting company. It takes a lot of work.

Re: Starting my own hosting company.

The way I started out was to offer totally free for life hosting for the first 10 people. 😉

People jumped to this offer overnight.
Within 48 hours I'd sold out all beta accounts (i called them beta accounts).

Then just back off for a bit.
Continue with improving your website, submitting to directories, etc.
Just give those 10 people a chance to have a good old try out.

Then, hope that they leave reviews.
Send them a polite reminder if they don't, but dont pester them.

Get people to try your service first (for free).
In return for their efforts allow them to stay hosted free for life.

If they are impressed they will (hopefully) help to spread the word. 😉

But above all, make sure you choose a reliable host if you wish to be a reseller. Uptime is of vital importance. Also server speed. 1gbps is best.

Also keep up a good level of customer support.
Customer support could be the answer between them choosing you or finding somewhere else. People generally like to receive helpful and prompt replies.

Hope that helps. 😉
Good luck with your new business venture. 🙂
